In the 2017 financial year, the global logistics provider DACHSER for the first time achieved a revenue of over EUR 6 billion. Its consolidated gross revenue increased by 7.2 percent to EUR 6.12 billion. DACHSER Asia Pacific achieved the largest revenue growth of 25 percent with air freight tonnage growing by 21.4 percent.
As North China keeps on growing as a geographical entry and exit point in China, global logistics provider DACHSER has been investing heavily into its offices there: the Dalian branch recently moved to bigger premises while the company started rolling out its one of a kind transport management system Othello to support growth. The technology has already been implemented successfully in the company’s South China branches.
With DACHSER Rail Services, the global logistics provider offers an alternative to air and sea freight that has been optimized for time and cost. The services use the “New Silk Road” and the trans-Siberian route to connect the economic areas of China and Europe.
Jochen Müller took up the role of Chief Operations Officer (COO) for DACHSER’s Air & Sea Logistics business field on January 1, 2018. He replaces Thomas Reuter, who retired at the end of last year after 39 years at DACHSER. Müller joined DACHSER on October 1, 2016 to prepare for his duties as COO.

Market Information

The trucking situation in the U.S. continues to deteriorate. Several cities are heavily impacted by tight capacity leading to delays, chassis shortages and higher trucking prices that vary from region to region.
China’s busiest time of year is fast approaching. Chinese New Year (CNY) is celebrated nationwide meaning all businesses around the country will close, including all factories. During this time all workers will travel across the country to return to their families and celebrate the New Year, with all manufacturing shutting down for the duration.
In response to the capacity crunch in the upcoming peak season starting from last week of October, DACHSER will be launching a once a week charter rotation service from Frankfurt to Shanghai, Pudong Airport for the calendar weeks 44-50.
The Golden Week is just around the corner. China and Korea are mostly affected by the one-week long public holidays, starting from 1 October. Also Hong Kong and Taiwan have a number of consecutive holidays at the beginning of October.
