DACHSER invests 5 million euros in Slovakia

Global logistics service provider DACHSER extends its logistics center in Lozorno near the Slovak capital Bratislava. A new warehouse will be build, offering space for around 12,500 pallets, so the usable logistics area will grow to a total of 64,000 square meters.

New DACHSER site in Austria

Logistics provider DACHSER is investing some 6.5 million euros in a new 20,000-square-meter facility in Stans in Tyrol, Austria. DACHSER Austria has now held the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the new terminal, which is scheduled to begin operations in late 2017 and will create 40 new jobs.

DACHSER opens warehouse near Linz

Celebrations were held yesterday as logistics provider DACHSER opened a new warehouse at its logistics center in Hörsching near Linz, Austria. The new building is a contract logistics warehouse with a storage and logistics area of 10,000 square meters with 20,000 pallet spaces. DACHSER invested some 10 million euros in the location and is creating up to 30 new jobs.

DACHSER Food Logistics acquires full stake in Papp Italia

Effective January 1st 2017, DACHSER has acquired all remaining shares in Italian food logistics company Papp Italia from German co-shareholder Balthasar Papp, Munich. The purchase leaves DACHSER as sole shareholder in Papp Italia, which is headquartered in the northern Italian town of Pradelle di Nogarole Rocca.

Azkar becomes DACHSER

In roughly four years, DACHSER has integrated its Iberian subsidiary Azkar Group into its European road network. The overland transport organizations will operate under the names of DACHSER Spain and DACHSER Portugal in the future. DACHSER is growing and investing in the future

DACHSER continued to grow in fiscal year 2016, generating consolidated gross revenue of around 5.71 billion euros—representing a consolidated revenue increase of 1.7 percent on the previous year. The number of shipments rose by 2.4 percent to 80.0 million, and tonnage by 2.4 percent to 38.2 million metric tons. This growth was driven by European overland transport as well as food logistics.

DACHSER invests in its overland network

DACHSER is currently creating new capacity for its overland network at several German locations. In the north, the Bremen and Hamburg locations are being expanded. Building is also under way in Alsdorf near Aachen and Dissen near Bielefeld. In total, DACHSER is investing some EUR 60 million at the four locations, creating nearly 35,000 square meters of additional warehouse and office space.

DACHSER Food Logistics now works Saturdays

DACHSER Food Logistics has added weekend service to its portfolio. As of February 2017, the food logistics provider collects goods at customer sites throughout Germany on Saturdays as well. DACHSER appoints Managing Director European Logistics Germany

DACHSER has promoted its Head of Contract Logistics, Alexander Tonn, to become the new Managing Director of European Logistics Germany. The 43-year old Tonn will take up his new position on January 1, 2017 to oversee business development of the 38 German branch offices in the European Logistics business line (overland transport and contract logistics for industrial goods). He will report to Michael Schilling, COO Road Logistics and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, who will continue to be responsible for this position in addition to his duties until the end of the year.

A new training record

Six hundred eighty-two trainees and students all across Germany have begun their training at logistics provider DACHSER—more than ever before. DACHSER has also set a new record for professional drivers: 87 young drivers decided to train with DACHSER this year. DACHSER reports strong, organic growth for fiscal year 2015. Consolidated revenue increased by 6.5 percent to EUR 5.64 billion. Shipments rose by 4.0 percent to 78.1 million, while tonnage increased by 5.2 percent to 37.3 million metric tons. The primary contributors for the positive performance were the overland freight services for food and industrial goods in Europe.

Squeezing and poking all in the name of quality

When the handling staff load the swap bodies or the semi-trailers for long-haul transport, they have to summon up the skills of a Tetris champion. The aim is to load as many goods as possible on the floor or in double-decker fashion whilst ensuring there are no gaps which could cause the goods to slide out of place. The dimensions, packaging, weight limits or arrival times of local transport vehicles often make the task more difficult than one would think. Luckily though there are practical tools to help make loading secure and safe.

DACHSER has expanded its cooperation with CSM Bakery Solutions, one of the world’s largest makers and B2B suppliers of baking ingredients and frozen bakery goods. Since early August, DACHSER Food Logistics has been operating the regional warehouse and handling all German domestic transports for the CSM Bakery Solutions factory in Delmenhorst. As a result, DACHSER is now the exclusive logistics partner in the non-frozen segment of CSM Deutschland GmbH, a subsidiary of CSM Bakery Solutions, and operates two warehouses with an approximate total of 30,000 pallets for the company.

DACHSER intensifies its initiative for professional drivers

The elements of the sustainable concept are training, professionalization, and support on the path toward becoming an independent shipping contractor. Through DACHSER Service and Ausbildungs GmbH, the logistics service provider is implementing an integrated approach for developing professional drivers. A key function is assigned to the fleet manager, who looks after the training and also serves as the link between the drivers, shipping contractors and the branch. At the current time, DACHSER is in the process of qualifying 41 professional drivers in accordance with this model, and starting in fall 2015, there will be at least 80 more.

DACHSER strengthens Öhringen location with warehouse

DACHSER is expanding its capacity at the Öhringen location by adding a warehouse. With a floorspace of over 16,000 m², the logistics warehouse offers 19,500 pallet spaces. Around two thirds of the area is used as a central warehouse by Alfred Kärcher Vertriebs-GmbH. Kärcher intends to store cleaning equipment and systems in Öhringen and have them shipped to its customers in Germany. A three-story office building will be added to the warehouse. The first phase of construction work started at the end of February, and the new hall is scheduled to be ready for operation in fall 2015.

DACHSER reinforces its presence in the Czech Republic

Kempten/Kladno, 3 May 2012. In Kladno near Prague, where once steel from the Poldi steelworks was stored, excavators are now digging for DACHSER: the logistics provider is expanding its existing facility with the addition of a new transshipment hall for industrial goods and ambient foodstuffs. At the same time a spacious, four-storey office building is also being built to accommodate DACHSER’s head office in the Czech Republic.

DACHSER constructs new branch office in the Netherlands

Kempten/Zevenaar, 13th February 2012. In Zevenaar, DACHSER is currently constructing one of its largest branch offices in Europe. The facility is expected to start operations this summer. Over the medium term DACHSER will thus create up to 35 new jobs with an investment volume of EUR 22 million.

Dangerous Goods Competence for the Romanian Market

Kempten/Ploiesti, January 10, 2012. DACHSER has opened a dangerous goods warehouse near Bucharest with an area of approximately 6,500 square metres and 11,500 pallet spaces. As currently the only warehouse in Romania, the facility, with an investment volume in excess of ten million euros, complies with the Seveso II Directive (96/82/EC).
