The beginnings
In 1930, in the middle of the Depression, Thomas DACHSER laid
the foundations of a company that has remained to this very
day one of the most efficient players in the industry.
The legal form of the company
Today DACHSER remains in the ownership of the founding families,
and is thus one of the few family-owned companies in the industry.
Management
Continuity and growth are also reflected in the company’s management, which has five members. The owner families are represented by Bernhard Simon, the grandson of the company’s founder, Thomas Dachser. On 1 January 2005, Bernhard Simon (*1960) took over as management spokesman, where he is joined by another highly experienced manager: Michael Schilling (*1963). These two managing directors are responsible for overseeing DACHSER's central functions. These include the operative responsibility for DACHSER's largest division, European Logistics (Bernhard Simon/Sales and Michael Schilling/Network Management, Logistics), IT (Michael Schilling) as well as Personnel and Strategy (Bernhard Simon). They are joined by two other successful and long-standing managing directors, Thomas Reuter (*1957) and Gerhard Riester (*1947), who head the DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics and Food Logistics respectively. Since 1st January 2008 Dr Dieter Truxius (*1952) has been fulfilling the function of Managing Director for Finance. He brings to the DACHSER – management board many years of experience in different executive positions in well-known companies.

Our public image
When it comes to our corporate image, DACHSER even outstrips
some of its major competitors, as a survey conducted by the
Bielefeld Emnid
market research institute for "Logistik inside"
clearly shows. In the category "Providers of logistics
products and services" DACHSER came 8th among the top 100
companies, ahead of IBM and SAP.
