Looking at the big picture.

Cookies

What are cookies?

Cookies are text files that store information on the behavior of an Internet user. They are used by (almost) all websites, as they offer significant advantages for both visitors and operators. For visitors they improve the user experience, as they control the appearance of the site or show the previously selected language version on a return visit, for example.

The files are stored on the device with which you have viewed the website – that is, on a PC/notebook or on a mobile device like a tablet or smartphone.

Some cookies are stored only for the duration of the session and deleted when you close your browser. So-called persistent cookies are stored for an extended period or permanently. They are deleted from the computer when they reach an expiration date or when they are manually deleted from your browser cache.

Using the browser settings, you can view, edit, and delete cookies. In most cases, the browser allows use of cookies automatically. If you do not want that, you can edit these settings in your browser.

What does DACHSER use cookies for?

We use cookies to recognize your computer on a subsequent visit to our site. In order to continuously improve our website, we want to understand how visitors use it.

The following cookies are in use on www.dachser.co.uk:

1. General cookies:

DACHSER uses cookies to recognize some of the settings and behavior of the visitor on a subsequent visit. (But not the users themselves!)

The cookie stores what selection was made on the portal page during the last visit, and the language selected in the respective country project during the last visit.

2. Campaign cookie:

With large campaign announcements, a lightbox will appear on the home page. The cookie stores the information that the lightbox is not to be displayed in full format when the page is opened again.

3. Video cookie:

In order to identify the optimum bandwidth for playing videos on our website, our third-party cookie saves the type of connection for the duration of the visit. The lifespan of the cookie is limited to the browser session.

4. Statistics cookie:

Data is collected on this website and stored using technologies of the etracker GmbH (www.etracker.com) for marketing and optimization purposes. This data is used to create user profiles under a pseudonym. Cookies could be used for this. Cookies are small text files that are stored locally in the cache of the Internet browser of the page visitor. The cookies enable the recognition of the Internet browser. The data collected with the etracker technologies is not used to identify the visitor of this website personally and is not combined with personal data of the carrier of the pseudonym without the individually granted consent of the person affected. The data collection and storage can be objected to at any time with future effect.

Here’s how you manage cookies:
