Effective immediately, DACHSER becomes majority shareholder of its partner in Ireland, Johnston Logistics Ltd. This allows DACHSER to expand and strengthen its logistics network in northwestern Europe.
At transport logistic, the industry’s leading exhibition, DACHSER is highlighting its expertise in fulfillment and digital networking. The supplier of logistics services invites industry specialists to visit its booth in Hall B6, Booth 101/202 at the Munich Messe fairground.
The Chemical Industry Association (Verband der Chemischen Industrie e.V. or VCI) has extended its purchasing alliance with DACHSER for another two years. The partners have enjoyed a successful collaboration on European groupage shipments from Germany since 2009 and extended it to include Air & Sea freight transport in 2015.
DACHSER continued to grow in fiscal year 2016, generating consolidated gross revenue of around 5.71 billion euros—representing a consolidated revenue increase of 1.7 percent on the previous year. The number of shipments rose by 2.4 percent to 80.0 million, and tonnage by 2.4 percent to 38.2 million metric tons. This growth was driven by European overland transport as well as food logistics.
DACHSER is currently creating new capacity for its overland network at several German locations. In the north, the Bremen and Hamburg locations are being expanded. Building is also under way in Alsdorf near Aachen and Dissen near Bielefeld. In total, DACHSER is investing some EUR 60 million at the four locations, creating nearly 35,000 square meters of additional warehouse and office space.
DACHSER Korea has been strengthening its presence in the Korea market with recent expansions of its offices in Seoul and Busan. With a total of 54 employees at three offices including Seoul, Busan, and in addition Incheon, the international logistics service provider is continuously developing its integrated worldwide supply chain solutions.
For the 20th time, the consulting and auditing firm EY (Ernst & Young) has honored successful entrepreneurs with their “Entrepreneur des Jahres“ (Entrepreneur of the Year) award. Dachser CEO Bernhard Simon was among the winners of the prize, which is given for entrepreneurship, innovation and personal dedication. He accepted the award for family-owned companies in Berlin on November 18.
DACHSER has promoted its Head of Contract Logistics, Alexander Tonn, to become the new Managing Director of European Logistics Germany. The 43-year old Tonn will take up his new position on January 1, 2017 to oversee business development of the 38 German branch offices in the European Logistics business line (overland transport and contract logistics for industrial goods). He will report to Michael Schilling, COO Road Logistics and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, who will continue to be responsible for this position in addition to his duties until the end of the year.
Experienced logistics manager Jochen Müller (52) will soon be joining the DACHSER team. On January 1, 2018, he will take over from Thomas Reuter as Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the Air & Sea Logistics business field. The transition period, during which Müller will work on developing projects, will start on October 1 of this year. Thomas Reuter will remain on the Executive Board in his role as head of Air & Sea Logistics through the transition period until he retires on December 31, 2017.
DACHSER reports strong, organic growth for fiscal year 2015. Consolidated revenue increased by 6.5 percent to EUR 5.64 billion. Shipments rose by 4.0 percent to 78.1 million, while tonnage increased by 5.2 percent to 37.3 million metric tons. The primary contributors for the positive performance were the overland freight services for food and industrial goods in Europe.
Winning awards in the categories “General load forwarding and groupage freight services” and “Food and consumer goods logistics,” DACHSER secures a double victory as the most successful logistics brand in the 2016 Image Ranking published by the „Verkehrsrundschau“ trade journal.
Children’s rights, schooling, vocational training, protection of natural resources: While continuing its ten-year collaboration in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh with the children’s aid organization terre des hommes, DACHSER is expanding its commitment to additional project regions in India, Nepal, Brazil, and Namibia. Over the next five years, the logistics provider will invest over EUR 1.1 million in local aid projects to bring lasting improvements to people’s lives by helping them help themselves.
DACHSER Ltd in the UK has begun a daily direct road trailer service to and from San Sebastian (Spain) in co-operation with Azkar DACHSER Group, the DACHSER SE Group’s subsidiary organisation in Iberia.
As the new training year begins, 530 trainees begin their professional training at DACHSER in Germany. The logistics provider is also welcoming 28 students who are taking advantage of the dual educational system to prepare for their career. The family company is currently training 1,341 logisticians at 78 locations throughout Germany.
International logistics provider DACHSER is repositioning itself in Greater Paris with two new locations in Wissous and Pantin. Paris Wissous, located near Paris-Orly International Airport, serves as a transshipment point for industrial goods. The new Pantin location, northeast of the French capital, is in charge of supply to downtown Paris.
On 21st July 2015, DACHSER Ltd was granted AEO(F) status by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). The full certification (Type F) recognises that the company’s organisation and processes are secure, and its customs controls and procedures are efficient and compliant.
Lufthansa Cargo honored DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics in the Europe and Africa regions with the 2014 Lufthansa Cargo Quality Award for Europe & Africa. The award recognizes the logistics provider’s superior input quality. Thus, DACHSER has the highest level of reliability for bookings out of all other shipping and logistics companies participating in the competition.
In fiscal year 2014, DACHSER generated 5.2% in additional revenue. Including revenue from corporate holdings, the two Business Fields* Road Logistics and Air & Sea Logistics grew by 5.0% and 8.0% respectively. "A lively spring was followed by an extraordinarily strong fall," says Bernhard Simon, CEO of DACHSER, in summarizing the year's events. "The trend toward outsourcing internationally complex logistics tasks in particular has made a contribution to the organic growth."
DACHSER will be exhibiting at transport logistic in Munich from May 5 to 8. In Hall B6, Booth 101/202, the family-owned company will be presenting the recent expansion of its international network, custom-tailored multi-channel solutions as well as new service offerings and trend-setting IT services.

In keeping with this principle, DACHSER not only arranges for annual audits of its Corporate IT, it currently is also having TÜV Süd review its entire software development process.
With its move to a new and larger property in Willebroek, Belgium, international logistics provider DACHSER is boosting its presence in the Benelux region. New construction took five months, with the new logistics center launching its operations on October 6th. Construction included a 7,000-square-meter transit terminal with 68 gates and a three-story office building that measures 2,300 square meters.
International logistics provider DACHSER continues to expand its Asia operations, taking over its partner’s shares in three countries. Global logistics service provider DACHSER is making a new investment in Erlensee (Main-Kinzig District of Hesse). The company is erecting a European Food Shipment Hub with a total surface of 70,000 square meters in Landendiebach. The total investment is some 25 million euros.
DACHSER is now doing business in South Korea as DACHSER Korea Inc., effective July 1st. The global logistics provider has maintained a presence in the Republic of Korea (South Korea) since 2006 as MGI & DACHSER Inc. This past December, DACHSER acquired the remaining 50% of the joint venture. Together with the renaming of the company, DACHSER also moved into new offices in Seoul.
The German Chemicals Industry Association (Verband der Chemischen Industrie e.V., "VCI") extended its purchasing alliance with DACHSER by another two years. This successful partnership has been in existence since 2009; since then, the association’s SME members (small- to medium-sized enterprises) have been benefiting primarily from groupage logistics services that are specially tailored to the specifications of their industry and moreover cover all of Europe.
DACHSER enters the Finnish overland transport market on June 1, 2014 and has established the joint venture DACHSER Finland Oy for this purpose. ACE Logistics Group—a network partner headquartered in Tallinn (Estonia) with whom DACHSER has already collaborated for over fifteen years in the Baltic nations— holds a 50% equity interest in the JV.
Cut!, a corporate film by the Kempten-based logistics provider, wins the intermedia-globe Gold award at the WorldMediaFestival in Hamburg. The film is one of the 14 best international submissions from a field of over 700.
A strong second half-year and the successful integration of the two Spanish acquisitions, Azkar and Transunion, boosted DACHSER’s revenue in 2013. The logistics service provider was able to increase its gross revenue by 13.2%, to 4.99 billion euro. When investment income is included, the company exceeded the revenue milestone of five billion euro for first time this past fiscal year. DACHSER pushed into a new dimension of internationalization also in regard to figures for employees, locations, and shipments.
Logistics provider DACHSER is expanding its presence in Switzerland with the opening of its new site in the Bern region. The international company is enhancing its global operations by establishing its ninth Swiss site that will occupy an area of 12,200 square meters, and create around 40 new jobs in the region.
A little more than ten months after the acquisition by DACHSER, the Spanish air and sea freight forwarder, Transunion, S.A., is completing its integration into the network of the global logistics provider. Starting on 1 January 2014, the company will be operating as DACHSER Spain Air & Sea Logistics, S.A.U.
DACHSER has increased its stake in Oy Waco Logistics Finland. The air and sea freight logistics company headquartered in Vantaa, southern Finland, not far from the capital Helsinki, has additional sites in the commercial centres Lahti, Oulu, Tampere, and Vaasa and therefore completely covers the “land of a thousand lakes.” In 2012, 54 employees generated almost EUR 24 million in revenue for the company.
DACHSER is investing roughly EUR 50 million in three sites in Germany: Langenau, Kornwestheim, and Schönefeld.
As the new European Food Network is launched, DACHSER is heavily investing in its Food Logistics business field. At three locations in Germany, the logistics provider simultaneously started up new facilities in the summer of 2013 for the transshipment and storage of food.
Kempten, June 27, 2013. As of July 1, Burkhard Eling (42) will be taking over the Finance, Legal, and Tax (FLT) Department at logistics provider DACHSER. He succeeds Professor Dr. Dieter Truxius, who will remain a member of the company’s management until he retires at the end of the year.
DACHSER Ltd, the UK subsidiary of one of Europe’s leading global logistics players, has announced a major investment in a brand new integrated logistics centre and UK head office close to its existing premises at Brackmills, Northampton.
Kempten, Munich. 20 March 2013. DACHSER closed the 2012 financial year with new record highs in terms of overall revenue and staff numbers. Revenue growth nevertheless slowed to 3.7 percent. DACHSER has set initial growth impulses for 2013 with the acquisitions of the Spanish logistics providers Azkar and Transunion. Including revenues from these acquisitions and expected organic growth, DACHSER aims to surpass the 5-billion-euro revenue threshold for the first time in the current fiscal year.

Effective retroactively from the beginning of the year, the internationally operating logistics provider, DACHSER, has acquired the Spanish air and sea freight forwarder Transunion S. A. subject to approval by the antitrust authorities. The company employs a staff of 235. In addition to nine offices in Spain the company is also represented in Turkey, Argentina, Peru and Mexico.

Effective 15 January 2013 subject to the approval of the anti-trust authorities the internationally operating logistics provider DACHSER is to acquire the Spanish logistics provider, Azkar S.A. DACHSER has held a 10 percent stake in its Iberian logistics partner since 2008.
Kempten/Port Elizabeth, 15 November 2012. DACHSER South Africa, the local organization of the internationally operating logistics provider, recently opened a fourth branch office in Port Elizabeth, extending an established network of South African offices in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.
After acquiring JA Leach Transport in Rochdale in April 2010, DACHSER made significant investment in a partial refurbishment of the premises as well as in additional staff and IT infrastructure. These initiatives were all key components of the process of integrating the Rochdale site into the DACHSER UK and European network.
DACHSER UK’s European logistics network, providing direct pallet and part-load deliveries for UK exporters, has been further extended with the introduction of a daily service to Ireland from the company’s northern hub in Rochdale (Greater Manchester). This augments DACHSER’s UK/Ireland services which also run daily from its depots in Northampton and Dartford.
DACHSER’s logistics services for UK exporters include a daily door-to-door freight service utilising its three depots in the UK and over 150 branches throughout Europe, via a hub and spoke system. The latest addition to DACHSER’s network of services is a regular direct line-haul link to its Strykow branch in Poland, from where consignments are delivered across the whole of the country. This new direct Polish service complements the existing departures via the DACHSER network and further optimises transit times to the Polish market.
Kempten/Koblenz, 5 September 2012. On a site of 12,000 square metres, DACHSER has a transit terminal of just under 2,000 square metres and 660 square metres of office space. 23 trucks can be loaded and unloaded simultaneously. A staff of 24 will ensure smooth transshipment and handling processes and a further 25 drivers will deliver the consignments and collect fresh goods from DACHSER’s customers.
Kempten/Johannesburg, 12 January 2012. One year after foundation of the joint venture between DACHSER and Jonen Freight, the South African logistics provider is being rebranded and will from now on operate under the name DACHSER South Africa (Pty.) Ltd. The ownership structure remains unchanged.
Kempten/Ploiesti, January 10, 2012. DACHSER has opened a dangerous goods warehouse near Bucharest with an area of approximately 6,500 square metres and 11,500 pallet spaces. As currently the only warehouse in Romania, the facility, with an investment volume in excess of ten million euros, complies with the Seveso II Directive (96/82/EC).
