As Chief Operations Officer Road Logistics (COO Road Logistics), Schilling manages the operational business for the Executive Unit Road Logistics and thus all regions of the business sectors European Logistics and Food Logistics. The Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board Michael Schilling, with his Corporate IT unit, is responsible for the worldwide infrastructure, the smooth provision of the business-critical data flow across the various business sectors as well as the information security.
He joined the team in the newly founded "Internal Logistics" department at DACHSER in 1989. His primary task was to shape the DACHSER process management for greater efficiency. His experience in the operative business started in 1990 in the subsidiary in Saarbrücken. Two years later, he switched to the subsidiary in Frankfurt, where he assumed management in 1993. After his return to the central office in the year 1996, he primarily focused on the expansion of the network infrastructure. In 2002, he was appointed as managing director of the "Euronational forwarding organization and infrastructure" department, which he had previously built up and which since has been steering DACHSER's entire European network.
Since 2005, Schilling has also been responsible for the "Contract Logistics" sector. In the year 2007, he assumed the responsibility for the "Information Technology" division. Under his leadership today, over 280 employees at the Kempten headquarters are developing IT systems that help steer logistic processes worldwide.
