Burkhard Eling was born in 1971 in Warstein, and he completed his studies as an industrial engineer at the Technical University in Braunschweig. He gained his first experiences abroad as a part of a study visit to Auckland, New Zealand. He began his professional carrier in 1999 at the Hochtief AG in the South West region, where he completed a business training program. In 2000, he switched to Philipp Holzmann AG as a controlling employee. He gained experience there in the operative controlling and was already responsible for the controlling of the foreign subsidiaries of the construction group.
In the year 2002, Eling joined the engineering and service group Bilfinger SE in the central sector Group Controlling. His activities concentrated on the support of the affiliated companies abroad. In addition, he was significantly involved in integration projects of subsidiaries acquired nationally and abroad. Starting in 2004, he had been leading the central division Group Controlling before he took over the management of central division Revision in 2006.
In 2008, Eling started working as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the US construction service provider Centennial Contractors Enterprises, Inc. in the US state of Virginia. There, he was responsible for accounting, finance, legal, internal audits as well as the risk management, and at the same time he was the Compliance Officer of the company.
Eling returned to Germany in 2010 and served as managing director of HSG Zander International GmbH, Facility Management service provider belonging to the Bilfinger group with 20 country units in Europe as well as the Middle East & North Africa regions. Eling was responsible there for the divisions Accounting, Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions as well as the subsidiaries in Great Britain and Ireland among others.
On June 1, 2012, Burkhard Eling became the Deputy Manager for the Finance, Legal and Tax (FLT) divisions at the DACHSER GmbH & Co. KG. He became the successor of Prof. Dr. Dieter Truxius as CFO on July 1, 2013.
