After immigrating at the age of 5 to Johannesburg in South Africa I completed my Schooling at Sandown High School in 1987.
After getting Married in April 1988 I returned to Hamburg , Germany to start as an apprentice at the Staatliche Handelsschule Holstenwall , Hamburg with a company called Handels und Verkehrsgeselschaft Globus GmbH.
After shortening my apprentice period from 2,5 years to 2 Years I qualified with distinction and was awarded an Honorary Certificate from the Bundesverband Spedition und Lagerei E.V. on the 27th June 1990.
I worked for 2 years in seafreight imports and Local Distribution at HVG Globus and then moved on to Monnard Spedition GmbH.
This is where I then was exposed to Air Import/Export and seafreight Export to South Africa, Consolidation , Project and Charter business. Also furthering my knowledge of general running of departments.
After numerous trips to our agency in South Africa I felt it was time to go back to South Africa.
In March 1995 , My wife and 2 Children (Daughter and Son) moved back to South Africa,
I joined our family Business called Jonen Freight (PTY) Ltd. In April 1995. The company progressively grew and after growing the seafreight Export and Import division the next step was Globalisation.
We joined Cargo Partners Network to grow globally and focus on Network Growth.
2010 I was elected onto the Board as one of the Directors of Cargo Partners Network.
The experience I gained from this network was invaluable and proved vital for Global Networking and problem solving.
On the 17th February 2011 Jonen Freight and Dachser GmbH & Co Kg completed a Joint Venture deal. This changed the dynamics for our Local Company to a Global enterprise with a global Network of owned offices.
Due to this development I resigned from my Director position at Cargo Partners Network in 2011.
I was appointed to Managing Director of Dachser South Africa (PTY) Ltd and took on the role of Country Manager South Africa in the Dachser Network.
Dachser South Africa (PTY) Ltd has grown steadily in the last 2 Years including 80 new Staff members and 30% more Turnover. The Dachser Family is our strength and will help our future development tremendously.
