Digitalization in the warehouse

DACHSER’s appearance at LogiMAT 2018 (Stuttgart, March 13-15) has digitalization written all over it. At the DACHSER booth, contract logistics managers will be explaining how the company is connecting digital data and physical goods movement in its warehouses.


Digitalization is transforming production and sales processes for industry and retail. And it’s been a fixed part of warehouse operations for quite some time: “Many of our processes for all aspects of storing manufactured goods and food have been digital for a long time,” says Alexander Tonn, Corporate Director, Corporate Contract Logistics at DACHSER. “We scan goods at shipping and receiving and manage the data in Mikado, our globally standardized warehouse management system that we update weekly. Then there are the new digital processes that we are testing all the time at our plants: from augmented reality glasses to self-driving pickers.”

Visitors to the DACHSER booth at LogiMAT can try on a pair of virtual reality glasses and immerse themselves in a 3D visualization of warehouse processes. High-resolution images and virtual tours of warehouses improve process transparency and planning certainty.

Digitalization calls for operational excellence

The physical nature of providing logistics services remains, however. Ensuring that goods arrive on time and undamaged calls for operational excellence.
