DACHSER established a new Far East South cluster in August, 2018 to capitalize on cross-market business opportunities and powerful IT resources. Helming the region is Kevin Chen, who DACHSER appointed as Managing Director of Air & Sea Logistics Far East South. The industry veteran will be responsible for 477 employees and eight locations across Hong Kong, Taiwan and South China.

DACHSER South China has partnered with one of China’s biggest e-commerce logistics company, 4PX Express, to handle a large part of its air freight to Europe. The signing of the new contract reflects a tremendous assignment for the company’s e-commerce activities. As such, a dedicated weekly air freight charter has been launched to transport the expected 3,900 tons of air freight between Hong Kong and Liege, Belgium from now until the end of January 2019.

In the 2017 financial year, the global logistics provider DACHSER for the first time achieved a revenue of over EUR 6 billion. Its consolidated gross revenue increased by 7.2 percent to EUR 6.12 billion. DACHSER Asia Pacific achieved the largest revenue growth of 25 percent with air freight tonnage growing by 21.4 percent.

Jochen Müller took up the role of Chief Operations Officer (COO) for DACHSER’s Air & Sea Logistics business field on January 1, 2018. He replaces Thomas Reuter, who retired at the end of last year after 39 years at DACHSER. Müller joined DACHSER on October 1, 2016 to prepare for his duties as COO.

In roughly four years, DACHSER has integrated its Iberian subsidiary Azkar Group into its European road network. The overland transport organizations will operate under the names of DACHSER Spain and DACHSER Portugal in the future. This was announced by CEO Bernhard Simon, COO Road Logistics Michael Schilling, and Juan Antonio Quintana, Managing Director European Logistics Iberia, at the transport logistic trade fair in Munich.

DACHSER Asia Pacific had a consolidated gross revenue of €341 million euros for the Asia Pacific region in 2016. This 7.36% decrease from last year mirrors volatile markets and freight rates. The amount (357,700) of air & sea freight shipments remains stable, and the number of employees increased by 2.7% to 1,543.

DACHSER has promoted its Head of Contract Logistics, Alexander Tonn, to become the new Managing Director of European Logistics Germany. The 43-year old Tonn will take up his new position on January 1, 2017 to oversee business development of the 38 German branch offices in the European Logistics business line (overland transport and contract logistics for industrial goods). He will report to Michael Schilling, COO Road Logistics and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, who will continue to be responsible for this position in addition to his duties until the end of the year.

Experienced logistics manager Jochen Müller (52) will soon be joining the DACHSER team. On January 1, 2018, he will take over from Thomas Reuter as Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the Air & Sea Logistics business field. The transition period, during which Müller will work on developing projects, will start on October 1 of this year. Thomas Reuter will remain on the Executive Board in his role as head of Air & Sea Logistics through the transition period until he retires on December 31, 2017.

DACHSER has created a new central organizational unit, Corporate Solutions, Research & Development, in order to advance its business with global, industry-specific logistics solutions and bundle its research and development activities. Stefan Hohm, an experienced DACHSER manager, will head up this new Corporate Unit. He has led the Logistics Center in Hof for the past seven years.

International logistics provider DACHSER continues to expand its Asia operations, taking over its partner’s shares in three countries. As a result, the family-owned company is now the sole shareholder in the company’s ventures in India and Thailand and a majority shareholder of the joint venture in Bangladesh.

Dachser closed the 2012 financial year in the Far East with strong turnover at US$283 m (HK$2.2 bn) an increase of more than 9.7 per cent when compared to the previous year’s total of US$258 m. Total shipments reached 216,100, including air freight and sea freight.

DACHSER closed the 2012 financial year with new record highs in terms of overall revenue and staff numbers. Revenue growth nevertheless slowed to 3.7 percent. DACHSER has set initial growth impulses for 2013 with the acquisitions of the Spanish logistics providers Azkar and Transunion. Including revenues from these acquisitions and expected organic growth, DACHSER aims to surpass the 5-billion-euro revenue threshold for the first time in the current fiscal year.

Effective retroactively from the beginning of the year, the internationally operating logistics provider, DACHSER, has acquired the Spanish air and sea freight forwarder Transunion S. A. subject to approval by the antitrust authorities. The company employs a staff of 235. In addition to nine offices in Spain the company is also represented in Turkey, Argentina, Peru and Mexico.

Effective 15 January 2013 subject to the approval of the anti-trust authorities the internationally operating logistics provider DACHSER is to acquire the Spanish logistics provider, Azkar S.A. DACHSER has held a 10 percent stake in its Iberian logistics partner since 2008.
