Current Handling Situation at Airport Frankfurt (Main)

Since a few days, the current situation at the Airport Frankfurt remains strained and critical due to ongoing strike actions of the Ground Handling Agents.
Current Handling Situation at Airport Frankfurt (Main)

Conciliation talks between all participants already took place during the last weeks. Furthermore, Fraport representatives were also involved to implement possible measures for corrective actions to reduce an upcoming backlog at the Airport Frankfurt (Main).

Since solution has not been found yet, the union Verdi has called out for a strike from Thursday, 23rd November 2017, 4:00 a.m., until Friday, 24th November 2017, 6:30 a.m. According to the latest information, the cargo handling of Frankfurt Cargo Services GmbH (FCS) as well as the LUG will be affected. For the time being, further strike actions cannot be precluded. Additionally, a general high freight volume together with seasonal peaks makes the situation worse and may lead to major delays in cargo handling. Of course, we are continuously working on alternative solutions to represent our customer’s interests in the best way and avoid delays as far as possible.

The following actions have already been taken:

Increase of departures from other European hubs (e.g. AMS, CDG, LGG, LUX)
Own charter capacity Europe-China, departure LGG
Direct pallet transfer to airports avoiding cargo handling in Frankfurt
Close and ongoing coordination with airlines to enable a short-term reaction

For very urgent shipments, please contact your local sales person in order to find appropriate solutions, e.g. service upgrade for your shipments.

We will keep you informed on arising news.
