DACHSER signs contract for new food logistics distribution center in Waddinxveen

With the signing of a lease agreement for a new warehouse and cross-dock site for food logistics in Waddinxveen, DACHSER is taking another important step in its continued growth in the Netherlands. The new location will be operational in the third quarter of 2025 and will create around 50 new jobs.

The new building in the industrial area of Waddinxveen near Rotterdam covers an area of 16,330 square meters, plus 1,311 square meters of office space, and thus offers sufficient space for the further integration of DACHSER's logistics services. The warehouse has three temperature zones: non-refrigerated storage, refrigerated storage and deep-freeze storage. It is also equipped with 45 loading and unloading gates spread across three sides of the building, ensuring efficient loading and unloading processes. The site has a total area of 33,000 square meters.

“This new building is coming sooner than we were expecting it,” says Aat van de Meer, Managing Director Benelux. “Thanks to the relocation of Lekkerland, we had the great opportunity to open a fifth building on the same site shortly after the opening of our fourth building,” he adds. With this expansion, the DACHSER European Logistics and Food Logistics branches can be housed under one roof and are in close proximity to the other warehouses.

Strong together

Jan-Peter Müller, Managing Director of Müller Fresh Food Logistics, adds: “For the first time, the European Logistics and Food Logistics business lines in the Netherlands are working together from a single location. This not only offers new operational opportunities, but also strengthens the cooperation between colleagues from Müller and DACHSER. We expect that these synergies will enable us to serve our customers even better and at the same time learn from each other's markets and processes. It is special that this step was possible so quickly, which gives us a great opportunity to further strengthen our collaboration.”

The distribution center, built in 1997, is being completely renovated and furnished in line with DACHSER's corporate identity. The focus is not only on the visual appearance, but also on sustainability and energy efficiency. The building is already equipped with solar panels on the roof, but all the lighting in the offices and warehouses will also be replaced with energy-efficient LED lamps.
