Digitalization and disruption – DACHSER Asia Pacific at TOC Asia

“Digitalization & Disruption” is one of the main topics of TOC Asia’s 2018 exhibition, taking place from 24 - 25 April at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. Meet Edoardo Podestá, Managing Director Air & Sea Logistics Asia Pacific, to discuss the impact of digitalization on logistics systems and processes.
Barcode scanning in the warehouse increases transparency. The digitalization of processes has been a crucial element of DACHSER’s digitalization strategy since the 1980ies.

Podestá will join the “Big Box Shipper Club Debate: Digitalization & Disruption” on April 24. During the panel, different actors in supply chains like shippers / BCO's, shipping lines and 3PLs will discuss how digital strategies generate long-term value for companies.

“The digitalization of processes opens the door for many fascinating technologies and opportunities”, Podestá says. “However, it also creates immense volumes of unstructured data. The logistics industry needs to find a way to convert this data into value”, he adds.

TOC Asia puts the transport of containerized goods in its focus. It has been running since 1995 where the first event took place in Singapore. The high-level Container Supply Chain Conference, which is co-located with each TOC event, is aimed at C-Suite strategic personnel including shippers, carriers and 3PL’s as well as the global operators and port authorities. In 2018 many of the conversations within the conference will focus on digitalization and disruption from the viewpoint of the key stakeholders within the container supply chain.
