Gujarat on high alert due to heavy rains and floods

Continuous rainfall caused severe floods in the Indian state Gujarat. The government authorities called in the Army and the Air Force for help. The floodings created disruptions in rail and road transport as well as air and sea freight which will lead to delays in delivery.
Ongoing rain seriously affects Gujarat's transport system.

Waters keep on sweeping across several places and seriously affect road and rail transport. Over 370 roads, including six National Highways and 153 State Highways, are flooded and closed for vehicular traffic. 11 out of 20 trains operating between Mumbai and Delhi were cancelled due to damage on tracks near Palanpur. 915 bus trips were cancelled in the northern districts.

The runway of the Ahmedabad airport was damaged as heavy rains continue to lash Gujarat. As a consequence, two Air India flights were diverted to Mumbai.
Container movements to/from the ports of Mundra and Pipavav are affected as railway tracks are washed away.

The India Meteorological Department predicted moderate to heavy rainfall up to Friday, July 28, 2017. Please contact your DACHSER representatives in case of any queries.
