Rémi Murciano, Management Trainee DACHSER Asia Pacific

"Having Chinese roots, I lived in Hong Kong in my early childhood before I moved around in many different countries before beginning my studies in the Middle East. I wanted to work in Asia and knew that being a management trainee and a future manager in an Asia Pacific role would allow me to do that. While completing an internship with a global logistics company, I fell in love with the industry. When I was told that there is a management trainee program at DACHSER, I found it a good opportunity for me.

I want to learn more about the processes during the program. I really treasure the time that I have with the company. I can gain experiences in different departments and get a complete picture of how the business is run and how each team works to contribute to the company's overall success.

During my first three months, I got to work at the sea freight operations department in the Hong Kong branch before I went on to air freight operations for another three months. My third rotation was dedicated to the sea freight pricing department at the Regional Head Office Asia Pacific in Hong Kong. Currently, I’m in Shanghai to get introduced to sales, DACHSER Contract Logistics and operations in China. After this, I’m off to join the sales team in Thailand.

While working in air and sea freight operations, I’m learning a lot about how the departments work, how the teams run and what exactly people are doing every day. Working in operations is interesting – it’s actually the backbone of the business."
