Nowadays, young people expect their employers to live up to their promise of social responsibility, both in their home country and abroad. To make them advocates for the joint work, DACHSER and terre des hommes initiated a youth exchange program in 2017.

The first step involved selecting 23 candidates from among the apprentices and dual-course students being trained by DACHSER at its branch offices in Germany. The chosen candidates then participated in a series of three workshops on subjects such as development aid policy, intercultural skills, and more specifically the projects in Uttar Pradesh.

In the end, the candidates themselves chose who would go on the trip to India. The five ambassadors were Nadja Borchers (20), trainee at the Air & Sea Logistics branch office in Alsdorf near Aachen; Maren-Anna Fries (20), trainee at the logistics center in Hamburg; Robin Müller (20), dual-course student at the DACHSER logistics center in Karlsruhe; Cem Davis Stahnke (22), trainee at the Sea Freight Gateway in Hamburg; and Johannes Theunissen (21), trainee at the logistics center in Cologne.

At the same time, the youth group representatives in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh have selected five young men and women to travel to Germany in July. From July 17 to 21, they will take part in special events organized by the city of Kempten, terre des hommes, Kempten City Theater, and DACHSER. The week’s events will examine what “home” means to different people.
