Typhoon and rain season in Asia

Typhoon Rumbia made landfall in Shanghai today, August 17, 2018, in the morning, bringing strong winds and heavy rain to the city. Even if some flights were delayed or cancelled, Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) are still in operations.

Rain and typhoon season are also affecting other countries in Asia like India. The situation in the Indian state of Kerala has been more and more precarious. The region has been massively hit due to torrential rains, overflowing rivers and a series of landslides. The raging monsoon waters put most cities in the state on high alert.

The threat of floods has caused one of Kerala’s main airports, the Cochin International Airport to shut down for four more days, cutting off some access to Kerala’s major city of Cochin. Considering the safety of employees, the management of Dachser India has decided to close the Cochin city and airport office until further notice from today onwards.

At DACHSER, we highly recommend to cover or wrap all Asia inbound pallets with extra packaging, e. g. tarpaulin, during the rainy season to avoid damage of goods.

Your DACHSER representative will provide support and advice.
