Hurricane Irma is approaching the U.S. East Coast

The hurricane is now expected to have a major impact in the entire southeast. Landfall in South Florida is expected early Saturday morning. The path of the storm is projected to then head north reaching Georgia by Monday and South Carolina by early Tuesday. Check NHC’s website for updated advisories.

Our DACHSER Miami offices will remain closed until further notice. Managers will be available via cell phone and email as long as possible while power remains. Calls will be re-routed to our Atlanta, GA office.

Ports and airports from Miami up to Charleston are in the path of the storm and are shutting down their operations by end of business Friday, September 8. Road and rail capacity is tightening as providers rush to move cargo to safer areas. Supply chains will be severely affected, especially if Irma continues on the projected path, as not only the ports in Southern Florida will be disrupted, but also Jacksonville, Savannah and Charleston.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as the storm develops. Please contact your local DACHSER representative with any questions. You can also reach our Regional Office USA at 678.302.9111 or
