Dachser posted substantial growth once again in 2018. The logistics provider increased its consolidated net revenue by 5.5 percent to EUR 5.57 billion. As they did last year, shipment numbers increased, rising by 2.5 percent to 83.7 million; tonnage rose 3.0 percent to 41.3 million metric tons. With 30,609 employees in total, up 1,511 from the preceding year, Dachser’s workforce reached a record high.

Logistics service provider Dachser has implemented e-cargo bikes for distribution in the city center of Freiburg (Germany).The delivery method is a sustainable electronic transport solution that optimizes city distribution. Stuttgart and Tubingen have been supplying the inner city with e-cargo bikes for several months.

Dachser is expanding its Karlsruhe location, adding a specially equipped warehouse for the safe storage of hazardous materials

Malsch/Kempten, November 6, 2018. Dachser is investing more than EUR 20 million in an expansion of its existing logistics center in Malsch, near Karlsruhe. Construction work on a new high bay storage facility covering 21,800 square meters and with approx. 43,000 pallet spaces is in full swing. The specially equipped facility is also designed to permit the safe storage of chemical products and hazardous materials such as paints, coatings, and adhesives. The facility will become operational in the first quarter of 2019.

DACHSER has been honored with the German CSR Award, presented by the German CSR Forum, in the “Engagement for the Civil Society” category. Bernhard Simon, CEO of DACHSER SE, and Edgar Marsh, Chairman of the Presidium of terre des hommes Germany, accepted the award from the jury foreperson for this category, Brigitta Wortmann, a member of the Board of Speakers for Germany’s National Network for Civil Society.

As of the first of September, logistics provider DACHSER has more employees than at any other point in its history: some 30,500 people around the world are employed by the family company based in Kempten in Allgäu, Germany; that same country is home to 16,246 of those employees. In addition, this year 732 young people have chosen to train or study with DACHSER in Germany—the largest number ever.

But the logistics provider’s closely integrated groupage network extends to sea freight, too. In 2018, 26 new LCL (less than container load) connections will be launched. All across Germany, 645 young adults started their training at the logistics company DACHSER. They had a number of professional placement options to choose from: two in business, two in IT, two in the trades, and one as a professional truck driver. The family business in cooperation with universities also offers courses in business administration with a focus on freight forwarding, transport, logistics, computer science, or business IT.

Logistics provider DACHSER is investing some 6.5 million euros in a new 20,000-square-meter facility in Stans in Tyrol, Austria. DACHSER Austria has now held the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the new terminal, which is scheduled to begin operations in late 2017 and will create 40 new jobs.

DACHSER Netherlands B.V. has taken over the DSV building at the ‘Distributieweg’ in Waddinxveen, The Netherlands. This building is located opposite the current building of DACHSER, Logistics Centre Rotterdam. The logistics service provider thus expands its terrain with a total area of 24.000 square meters.

Dachser has enjoyed another year of growth in the Benelux, seeing net sales for 2016 rise by more than 13%. The logistics service provider also achieved good results in the Netherlands. DACHSER’s substantial investments, which have been subject over the past years, are paying off.

DACHSER is currently creating new capacity for its overland network at several German locations. In the north, the Bremen and Hamburg locations are being expanded. Building is also under way in Alsdorf near Aachen and Dissen near Bielefeld. In total, DACHSER is investing some EUR 60 million at the four locations, creating nearly 35,000 square meters of additional warehouse and office space.

In roughly four years, DACHSER has integrated its Iberian subsidiary Azkar DACHSER Group into its European road network. The overland transport organizations will operate under the names of DACHSER Spain and DACHSER Portugal in the future. This was announced today by CEO Bernhard Simon, COO Road Logistics Michael Schilling, and Juan Antonio Quintana, Managing Director European Logistics Iberia, at the transport logistic trade fair in Munich.

The Waddinxveen branch of DACHSER Netherlands is celebrating its tenth anniversary. On March 1, 2007 the logistic service provider opened its second office in the Netherlands. DACHSER Netherlands was founded on January 10th, 1975 in Zevenaar. Through the continuous growth of logistic activities, DACHSER Netherlands moved several times to a larger business premises within Zevenaar. At the end of 2006 the building on the Industrial Park in Zevenaar also became too small. Expansion was no longer possible at this location; therefore a second office was opened in the West of the Netherlands: Waddinxveen.

Six hundred eighty-two trainees and students all across Germany have begun their training at logistics provider DACHSER—more than ever before. DACHSER has also set a new record for professional drivers: 87 young drivers decided to train with DACHSER this year. In total, the family-owned company is training 1,511 new recruits in 76 locations nationwide. Outside of Germany, the number of next-generation logistics trainees is 255. In the Netherlands (Waddinxveen and Zevenaar) currently 40 students are trained in various logistics functions.

DACHSER has promoted its Head of Contract Logistics, Alexander Tonn, to become the new Managing Director of European Logistics Germany. The 43-year old Tonn will take up his new position on January 1, 2017 to oversee business development of the 38 German branch offices in the European Logistics business line (overland transport and contract logistics for industrial goods). He will report to Michael Schilling, COO Road Logistics and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, who will continue to be responsible for this position in addition to his duties until the end of the year.

Experienced logistics manager Jochen Müller (52) will soon be joining the DACHSER team. On January 1, 2018, he will take over from Thomas Reuter as Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the Air & Sea Logistics business field. The transition period, during which Müller will work on developing projects, will start on October 1 of this year. Thomas Reuter will remain on the Executive Board in his role as head of Air & Sea Logistics through the transition period until he retires on December 31, 2017.

DACHSER reports strong, organic growth for fiscal year 2015. Consolidated revenue increased by 6.5 percent to EUR 5.64 billion. Shipments rose by 4.0 percent to 78.1 million, while tonnage increased by 5.2 percent to 37.3 million metric tons. The primary contributors for the positive performance were the overland freight services for food and industrial goods in Europe.

In fiscal year 2014, DACHSER generated 5.2% in additional revenue. Including revenue from corporate holdings, the two Business Fields* Road Logistics and Air & Sea Logistics grew by 5.0% and 8.0% respectively. A significant milestone for the company that began with three employees in a small office in Zevenaar, a city in the east of the Netherlands. Now, 40 years later, DACHSER operates five branches in the Netherlands with more than 400 employees in total and looking positive for the future.

Five months after the start of construction, internal logistics provider DACHSER moves on October 6th to a new and larger property in Willebroek, Belgium. With this move DACHSER is boosting its presence in the Benelux region. Construction included a 7,000-square-meter transit terminal with 68 gates and an office building that measures 2,300 square meters.

Reason for DACHSER to strengthen the cooperation between road transport and the air and sea freight services in Belgium and the Netherlands. Therefore, from now on, Aat van der Meer, Managing Director DACHSER Benelux, will be responsible for not only road transport but for the air and sea activities in this region as well.

International logistics provider DACHSER continues to expand its Asia operations, taking over its partner’s shares in three countries. As a result, the family-owned company is now the sole shareholder in the company’s ventures in India and Thailand and a majority shareholder of the joint venture in Bangladesh.

Global logistics service provider DACHSER is making a new investment in Erlensee (Main-Kinzig District of Hesse). The company is erecting a European Food Shipment Hub with a total surface of 70,000 square meters in Landendiebach. The total investment is some 25 million euros.

DACHSER is now doing business in South Korea as DACHSER Korea Inc., effective July 1st. The global logistics provider has maintained a presence in the Republic of Korea (South Korea) since 2006 as MGI & DACHSER Inc. This past December, DACHSER acquired the remaining 50% of the joint venture. Together with the renaming of the company, DACHSER also moved into new offices in Seoul.

The German Chemicals Industry Association (Verband der Chemischen Industrie e.V., "VCI") extended its purchasing alliance with DACHSER by another two years. This successful partnership has been in existence since 2009; since then, the association’s SME members (small- to medium-sized enterprises) have been benefiting primarily from groupage logistics services that are specially tailored to the specifications of their industry and moreover cover all of Europe.

ACE Logistics Group—a network partner headquartered in Tallinn (Estonia) with whom DACHSER has already collaborated for over fifteen years in the Baltic nations— holds a fifty percent equity interest in the JV.

DACHSER has increased its stake in Oy Waco Logistics Finland. The air and sea freight logistics company headquartered in Vantaa, southern Finland, not far from the capital Helsinki, has additional sites in the commercial centers Lahti, Oulo, Tampere, and Vaasa and therefore completely covers the “land of a thousand lakes.” In 2012, 54 employees generated almost EUR 24 million in revenue for the company.

Kempten, Munich. 20 March 2013. DACHSER closed the 2012 financial year with new record highs in terms of overall revenue and staff numbers. Revenue growth nevertheless slowed to 3.7 percent. DACHSER has set initial growth impulses for 2013 with the acquisitions of the Spanish logistics providers Azkar and Transunion. Including revenues from these acquisitions and expected organic growth, DACHSER aims to surpass the 5-billion-euro revenue threshold for the first time in the current fiscal year.

Effective retroactively from the beginning of the year, the internationally operating logistics provider, DACHSER, has acquired the Spanish air and sea freight forwarder Transunion S. A. subject to approval by the antitrust authorities. The company employs a staff of 235. In addition to nine offices in Spain the company is also represented in Turkey, Argentina, Peru and Mexico.

The Berlin production site of Rudolf Wild GmbH & Co. KG relies on the electronic interchange of logistics data. The producer of natural ingredients and intermediate products for the food industry is the ten thousandth user to benefit from the advantages of closely meshed logistics systems and has linked its transport and warehouse systems via an interface to DACHSER’s EDI centre.

DACHSER has held a 10 percent stake in its Iberian logistics partner since 2008.
