DACHSER USA has a new Managing Director. After successfully leading the expansion of the DACHSER air and sea business unit in France and North Africa, Vincent Touya, 56 years old, is taking on the challenge of leading the DACHSER network in the United States, since February 1st. With a 30-year experience with the multinational, and thanks to his in-depth knowledge of the business, the French manager is highly prepared to implement and develop integrated intercontinental supply chains for US customers.

"The US market represents a very significant development opportunity for DACHSER," says Vincent Touya. "I am therefore fully committed to increasing the company's offer of logistics services in the US, thus facilitating customer access to DACHSER's global logistics network," he said.

USA: An opportunity for Portugal

This is a strategic option for DACHSER, which seeks to boost the trade lane to the United States in both the sea and air freight in 2019 and thus meet the needs of national companies. The United States is currently one of the five markets leading the ranking of national exports, being Portugal's largest trading partner outside the European Union.

According to AICEP (Portuguese Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade), national exports to this market increased approximately nine percent in five years (from 3.4 billion in 2013 to 4.66 billion in 2017). Regarding imports, the growth line remains, despite having absolute values lower than those of exports: 1.89 billion in 2013 and 2.7 billion in 2017.

"We are looking to be, increasingly, the solution and the logistics partner of Portuguese companies", says Jorge Andrade, Managing Director of DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics Portugal. "The fact that the United States is the main trading partner of Portugal outside the European Union leads us to view this market as a clear opportunity and in which we must invest," he adds.

DACHSER ASL Portugal ensures weekly services to the United States by sea, with a direct connection through the Port of Sines. In terms of air freight, the services are on a daily basis, with departures from both Porto and Lisbon airports. Consolidation, charter services for air freight, full containers loads in sea freight are some of the services offered by the logistics operator in Portugal. Always with the distribution synergies offered by the DACHSER road transport network in Europe, DACHSER in Portugal has the capacity to ensure the complete management of the logistics supply chain for national companies with international business.
