True greatness comes from each other.

Executive Unit CDH - Chief Executive Officer Bernhard Simon

Bernhard Simon, born in 1960, has been the management spokesman since January 1, 2005. As grandson of the company's founder Thomas Dachser, a representative of the third generation is thus at the helm of the company as CEO.

The Executive Board manages the company and represents it publicly. It is responsible for all fields of the business and all areas of operation in our long-term tradition of consensual leadership.

As Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and chairman of the Executive Board, Bernhard Simon carries out comprehensive tasks for the control and strategic orientation of the entire company. He shapes and represents the topics of the Executive Board. Bernhard Simon is responsible for the relationships and subject-related coordination with the shareholders, the Supervisory Board as well as the national organizations and subsidiaries.

With his executive unit CDH, he inwardly and outwardly shapes the face of DACHSER. This executive unit is responsible for the following areas and further develops them according to the principles of consensual company leadership and corporate social responsibility (CSR):

  • Corporate Development strategy development and PR,
  • Corporate Human Resources for the worldwide sustainable development of our personnel,
  • Corporate Marketing for the exploitation of new products and their market placement as well as brand management,
  • Corporate Solutions for the development and implementation of collaborative, integrated supply chain solutions,
  • Corporate Key Accounting for the integral management of strategic key accounts.

After training as a qualified specialist in forwarding services at DACHSER, Mr. Simon studied business administration at the Friedrich Alexander University in Nuremberg. In 1996, the business graduate (he was in the top three in his class) completed Harvard's senior executive program in the USA. "Even then, my goal was to join the management of my family’s company," confesses Bernhard Simon. He also became involved in development policy, including the non-profit organization "terre des hommes." In 1988, he went to Brazil to lead a several-month-long development aid project, among other things. DACHSER's humanitarian and social commitment as part of the sustainability initiative benefits from this experience, particularly relating to the efficient management of social projects.

In subsequent years, Bernhard Simon predominantly concentrated on the development and optimization of the European network. Mr. Simon redesigned all operational processes and thus increased productivity by 30% as part of a groundbreaking re-engineering project. Since 2001, Bernhard Simon has been chairman of the supervisory board of DACHSER France (formerly Graveleau). The negotiations for integrating the company into the DACHSER group, as well as the successful conclusion of the contract were completed under his leadership. In addition, he bore significant responsibility for the successful integration into DACHSER's company structure. The development of a modern governance structure in cooperation with the administrative board, the shareholders and his management colleagues, can also be ascribed to Bernhard Simon's initiative.

September 2008: The Deutsche Verkehrszeitung awards Bernhard Simon the LEO (Logistics, Excellence, Optimization) award in the category "Entrepreneur of the Year."

November 2008: The INTES Akademie für Familienunternehmen and Impulse magazine elect Bernhard Simon as the "family entrepreneur of the year."
