By 2022, logistics provider DACHSER plans to replace all of its roughly 6,000 ground conveyors in Europe with vehicles powered by energy-saving lithium-ion batteries.
DACHSER posted substantial growth once again in 2018. The logistics provider increased its consolidated net revenue by 5.5 percent to EUR 5.57 billion. As they did last year, shipment numbers increased, rising by 2.5 percent to 83.7 million; tonnage rose 3.0 percent to 41.3 million metric tons. With 30,609 employees in total, up 1,511 from the preceding year, DACHSER’s workforce reached a record high.
International supplier of logistics services DACHSER Slovakia strengthens its network of direct routes. Starting from February, customers may use a new route from Lozorno to Strasbourg and Langenhagen up to five times a week.
In the most recent “Top 100 in Logistics” ranking, logistics provider DACHSER moved up one place in the German market and is now the logistics company with the third-highest revenue. In the segment „landbound groupage“ DACHSER maintains its first position.
Effective immediately, DACHSER’s Karlsruhe logistics center is deploying pedelecs for city-center deliveries. This move by the logistics provider is a response to environmental issues such as air quality, but also to the increasing number of traffic jams and construction zones that make it difficult to deliver to city centers with conventional trucks.
By now, anyone doing business in the Asia markets is well into planning how the continuity of trade will work during the Chinese New Year (CNY) when virtually all business in China, including factories, closes down from one to four weeks. In 2019 CNY will begin on February 5.

Bernhard Simon, CEO of DACHSER SE, and Edgar Marsh, Chairman of the Presidium of terre des hommes Germany, accepted the award from the jury foreperson for this category, Brigitta Wortmann, a member of the Board of Speakers for Germany’s National Network for Civil Society.

Expanding its Life Science & Healthcare capabilities, DACHSER has obtained the Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma) certification from IATA for its Frankfurt airport branch.
DACHSER is investing more than EUR 20 million in an expansion of its existing logistics center in Malsch, near Karlsruhe. Construction work on a new high bay storage facility covering 21,800 square meters and with approx. 43,000 pallet spaces is in full swing. The specially equipped facility is also designed to permit the safe storage of chemical products and hazardous materials such as paints, coatings, and adhesives. The facility will become operational in the first quarter of 2019.
As of the first of September, logistics provider DACHSER has more employees than at any other point in its history: some 30,500 people around the world are employed by the family company based in Kempten in Allgäu, Germany; that same country is home to 16,246 of those employees. In addition, this year 732 young people have chosen to train or study with DACHSER in Germany—the largest number ever.
After more than 17 years at the helm, Nick Lowe, DACHSER UK’s Managing Director, was taking early retirement at the end of September. His successor is Mark Rollinson, who has previously held various management positions at Schenker and Allport Cargo Services.

Jochen Müller took up the role of Chief Operations Officer (COO) for DACHSER’s Air & Sea Logistics business field on January 1, 2018. He replaces Thomas Reuter, who retired at the end of last year after 39 years at DACHSER. Müller joined DACHSER on October 1, 2016 to prepare for his duties as COO.
DACHSER is the launch customer for Daimler’s all-electric FUSO eCanter light commercial vehicle. As of spring 2018, the logistics provider will be operating two of these trucks in city centers—one in Berlin, the other in Stuttgart.

DACHSER Slovakia has strengthened its network of direct lines. Customers are now able to use a daily groupage service line from Lozorno to the Hungarian city of Kecskemét, about 90 km south of Budapest.
Celebrations were held yesterday as logistics provider DACHSER opened a new warehouse at its logistics center in Hörsching near Linz, Austria. The new building is a contract logistics warehouse with a storage and logistics area of 10,000 square meters with 20,000 pallet spaces. DACHSER invested some 10 million euros in the location and is creating up to 30 new jobs.
In roughly four years, DACHSER has integrated its Iberian subsidiary Azkar Group into its European road network. The overland transport organizations will operate under the names of DACHSER Spain and DACHSER Portugal in the future. This was announced today by CEO Bernhard Simon, COO Road Logistics Michael Schilling, and Juan Antonio Quintana, Managing Director European Logistics Iberia, at the transport logistic trade fair in Munich.
Effective immediately, DACHSER becomes majority shareholder of its partner in Ireland, Johnston Logistics Ltd. This allows DACHSER to expand and strengthen its logistics network in northwestern Europe.
DACHSER continued to grow in fiscal year 2016, generating consolidated gross revenue of around 5.71 billion euros—representing a consolidated revenue increase of 1.7 percent on the previous year. The number of shipments rose by 2.4 percent to 80.0 million, and tonnage by 2.4 percent to 38.2 million metric tons. This growth was driven by European overland transport as well as food logistics.
For the 20th time, the consulting and auditing firm EY (Ernst & Young) has honored successful entrepreneurs with their “Entrepreneur des Jahres“ (Entrepreneur of the Year) award. DACHSER CEO Bernhard Simon was among the winners of the prize, which is given for entrepreneurship, innovation and personal dedication. He accepted the award for family-owned companies in Berlin on November 18.
Experienced logistics manager Jochen Müller (52) will soon be joining the DACHSER team. On January 1, 2018, he will take over from Thomas Reuter as Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the Air & Sea Logistics business field. The transition period, during which Müller will work on developing projects, will start on October 1 of this year. Thomas Reuter will remain on the Executive Board in his role as head of Air & Sea Logistics through the transition period until he retires on December 31, 2017.
When the handling staff load the swap bodies or the semi-trailers for long-haul transport, they have to summon up the skills of a Tetris champion. The aim is to load as many goods as possible on the floor or in double-decker fashion whilst ensuring there are no gaps which could cause the goods to slide out of place. The dimensions, packaging, weight limits or arrival times of local transport vehicles often make the task more difficult than one would think. Luckily though there are practical tools to help make loading secure and safe.
DACHSER USA Air & Sea Logistics has expanded its USA footprint yet again, by opening a new office in the Twin Cities region. After Chicago, St. Louis and Cincinnati the Minneapolis branch is the fourth office in the Midwest.
As it builds new facilities in Austria, France, and Germany, DACHSER is strengthening its contract logistics operations across Europe. Integrated logistics services including transport, warehousing, and value-added services will be available in even more locations.
DACHSER reports strong, organic growth for fiscal year 2015. Consolidated revenue increased by 6.5 percent to EUR 5.64 billion. Shipments rose by 4.0 percent to 78.1 million, while tonnage increased by 5.2 percent to 37.3 million metric tons. The primary contributors for the positive performance were the overland freight services for food and industrial goods in Europe.
DACHSER has created a new central organizational unit, Corporate Solutions, Research & Development, in order to advance its business with global, industry-specific logistics solutions and bundle its research and development activities. Stefan Hohm, an experienced DACHSER manager, will head up this new Corporate Unit. He has led the Logistics Center in Hof for the past seven years.
The international logistics service provider DACHSER carried out a transport of a train locomotive from Beijing (China) to Velim (Czech Republic). Special rail vehicle weighing 61 tons used for the maintenance of trolleys passed from China by sea in a container ship, on road by inland vessel and on the river via flatbed trailer over 25 700 km, while using special handling equipment and high expertise from DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics division in order to realise this non-standard consignment.
International logistics provider DACHSER is repositioning itself in Greater Paris with two new locations in Wissous and Pantin. Paris Wissous, located near Paris-Orly International Airport, serves as a transshipment point for industrial goods. The new Pantin location, northeast of the French capital, is in charge of supply to downtown Paris.
Lufthansa Cargo honored DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics in the Europe and Africa regions with the 2014 Lufthansa Cargo Quality Award for Europe & Africa. The award recognizes the logistics provider’s superior input quality. Thus, DACHSER has the highest level of reliability for bookings out of all other shipping and logistics companies participating in the competition.
In fiscal year 2014, DACHSER generated 5.2% in additional revenue. Including revenue from corporate holdings, the two Business Fields* Road Logistics and Air & Sea Logistics grew by 5.0% and 8.0% respectively. "A lively spring was followed by an extraordinarily strong fall," says Bernhard Simon, CEO of DACHSER, in summarizing the year's events. "The trend toward outsourcing internationally complex logistics tasks in particular has made a contribution to the organic growth."
Global logistics service provider DACHSER Slovakia has been seeking advantages from rail-link between Asia and Europe. Containers are able to be delivered within just 14 days, passing distance of about 11,000 km between Europe and Asia. This is a great alternative to fast, but expensive air freight on one hand and economic, but slow sea freight way on the other hand. Slovak companies may thus benefit from significantly faster, but still inexpensive transport possibilities.

DACHSER is now doing business in South Korea as DACHSER Korea Inc., effective July 1st. The global logistics provider has maintained a presence in the Republic of Korea (South Korea) since 2006 as MGI & DACHSER Inc. This past December, DACHSER acquired the remaining 50% of the joint venture. Together with the renaming of the company, DACHSER also moved into new offices in Seoul.

DACHSER enters the Finnish overland transport market on June 1, 2014 and has established the joint venture DACHSER Finland Oy for this purpose. Kempten, Munich. April 9, 2014. A strong second half-year and the successful integration of the two Spanish acquisitions, Azkar and Transunion, boosted DACHSER’s revenue in 2013. The logistics service provider was able to increase its gross revenue by 13.2 percent, to 4.99 billion euro. When investment income is included, the company exceeded the revenue milestone of five billion euro for first time this past fiscal year. DACHSER pushed into a new dimension of internationalization also in regard to figures for employees, locations, and shipments.
International logistics provider DACHSER confirmed its leading position in European market conquering for the first time the pole position in the segment of groupage services in Europe. These results were published in the prestigious study “TOP 100 in European Transport and Logistics Services 2013/2014” which brings comparison of logistics providers.
The year after the acquisition by DACHSER, the Spanish air and sea freight forwarder Transunion, S.A., is completing its integration into the network of the global logistics provider. Starting on 1 January 2014, the company will be operating as DACHSER Spain Air & Sea Logistics, S.A.U.
Kempten/Lyss (CH), January 16, 2014. Logistics provider DACHSER is expanding its presence in Switzerland with the opening of its new site in the Bern region. The international company is enhancing its global operations by establishing its ninth Swiss site that will occupy an area of 12,200 square meters, and create around 40 new jobs in the region.
At the end of October, DACHSER organized the transport of a 95-ton section of a generator (specifically, the stator) from Graz, Austria to Tampa, Florida, USA. So that the colossus could traverse the Atlantic, DACHSER chartered an Antonov AN 124-100 freighter airplane. Graz Airport authorized a special take-off clearance just for this project.
Kempten/Jakarta. November 25, 2013. DACHSER continues its global expansion in the Air & Sea Logistics business field by forming a joint venture in Indonesia starting November 18.
Kempten, October 14, 2013. DACHSER has increased its stake in Oy Waco Logistics Finland. The air and sea freight logistics company headquartered in Vantaa, southern Finland, not far from the capital Helsinki, has additional sites in the commercial centers Lahti, Oulo, Tampere, and Vaasa and therefore completely covers the “land of a thousand lakes.” In 2012, 54 employees generated almost EUR 24 million in revenue for the company.

Kempten, June 27, 2013. As of July 1, Burkhard Eling (42) will be taking over the Finance, Legal, and Tax (FLT) Department at logistics provider DACHSER. He succeeds Professor Dr. Dieter Truxius, who will remain a member of the company’s management until he retires at the end of the year.

A. subject to approval by the antitrust authorities. The company employs a staff of 235. In addition to nine offices in Spain the company is also represented in Turkey, Argentina, Peru and Mexico.

Effective 15 January 2013 subject to the approval of the anti-trust authorities the internationally operating logistics provider DACHSER is to acquire the Spanish logistics provider, Azkar S.A. DACHSER has held a 10 percent stake in its Iberian logistics partner since 2008.

Kempten/Ploiesti, January 10, 2012. DACHSER has opened a dangerous goods warehouse near Bucharest with an area of approximately 6,500 square metres and 11,500 pallet spaces. As currently the only warehouse in Romania, the facility, with an investment volume in excess of ten million euros, complies with the Seveso II Directive (96/82/EC).
Clermont-Ferrand, 28 September 2011. Überherrn, Bratislava and now Clermont-Ferrand: DACHSER’s three-hub concept is at the heart of a pan-European network design that is unique in the logistics world. In declaring its third Eurohub open for business in France – after Überherrn in Germany and Bratislava in Slovakia – DACHSER has put the finishing touches to this concept. The logistics company has invested ten million euros in the transshipment centre, where it has also created 100 new jobs.
