The new DACHSER magazine is here!

It should go without saying that the global community must take consistent action to protect the climate in order to safeguard the livelihoods of future generations. But a look at the news in recent months suggests that the issue of sustainability is no longer top of mind. For example, the United States is withdrawing from the Paris Agreement on climate change and focusing on fossil fuels. And the European Union is revisiting painstakingly crafted agreements on sustainability reporting obligations and discussing whether climate targets that have already been put in place might be too ambitious after all.

DACHSER CEO Burkhard Eling has recently taken a clear position on these developments: “Let me stress that, for DACHSER, striving for sustainable solutions is and will remain part of our DNA,” he said at the annual press conference at the beginning of April. This clear commitment is explained in the cover story of the new DACHSER magazine, which reports on what the family-owned company has already achieved and how it intends to proceed with climate action. In these challenging times, it is all the more important for DACHSER, as an impulse generator for the industry, to plan its investments wisely and always find the right pace for sustainable transformation. You can read more on this starting on page 6 and in the interview with Burkhard Eling and DACHSER Chief Development Officer (CDO) Stefan Hohm starting on page 10.

The interview with the new Chief Financial Officer Thomas Hiemer is also about taking future-oriented action. Turn to page 22 to find out how the company is dealing with today’s complex conditions from a financial perspective and how it continues to create stable foundations for the future. We also report on interesting projects with our customers in this issue. On page 16, the focus is on close cooperation with the ABB Group—both in logistics and on the topic of sustainability. And starting on page 26, you can find out more about Lenze, an automation and drive technology specialist, for whom DACHSER organizes sea freight groupage shipments from China to Austria as well as goods distribution in Europe.

In other news, a new era is dawning for the DACHSER magazine. You can now find our stories from the world of intelligent logistics in a new online publication at magazine.dachser.com.
