As of the start of September, the premium charter program of DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics now includes the Hong Kong–Frankfurt route. DACHSER European Logistics then distributes the goods from Frankfurt throughout Europe via its overland transport network. Short update on the general situation in the transport sector

In the second half of the year, the corona pandemic is still the predominant topic in the media. While at the beginning of the pandemic new findings on Covid-19 were being announced almost daily and many updates were also published by DACHSER on loading restrictions in Europe as well as in America and APAC, something like a "new normality" has now returned.

At the moment, there are no longer any universal country or customer restrictions. We would therefore like to ask our customers to clarify individual restrictions such as closures, changed opening hours etc. with the recipients of the goods themselves. We are closely monitoring the further course of the corona pandemic and will keep you informed immediately of any developments. Should new loading restrictions be imposed, these will be published again via our website.

DACHSER starts weekly charter to the US

DACHSER strengthens its Interlocking presence at Frankfurt Airport

On 1 July 2020, DACHSER strengthened its networking between the Air & Sea Logistics and European Logistics business segments at Frankfurt Airport and is now bundling air freight import traffic for Germany and other European countries at Frankfurt Airport.

Once the air freight arrives at Frankfurt Airport and is accepted into the air freight warehouse, it is fed directly into the DACHSER European Logistics network, which has a branch office at the airport. With Europe-wide delivery from Frankfurt via the network, DACHSER thus offers its customers a uniform and reliable solution from the point of departure overseas to delivery in Europe. It is now also possible to offer customers end-to-end monitoring of their consignment via eLogistics.

Heavyweights on tour

Shipping 138 metric tons from Brazil to Mexico—DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics organized the transport of an oversized machine for automotive manufacturing. After dismantling the machine into 14 parts, the largest piece alone—a compressor—weighed 125 metric tons. The journey was first made by heavy-lift cargo transport through the Brazilian state of São Paulo, then by container ship to Mexico, where another truck took over again for the last leg to the production plant in central Mexico.

DACHSER Brazil transports 250,000 masks for ThyssenKrupp

Due to the new coronavirus pandemic, DACHSER Brazil coordinated for ThyssenKrupp Elevator the import of 250,000 disposable masks, which were later distributed to all employees of the elevator manufacturer in Latin America. DACHSER Food Logistics - a reliable partner in the Corona crisis

The corona pandemic has posed and continues to pose major challenges for DACHSER Food Logistics. During the shutdown in March, the company succeeded in maintaining its ability to deliver without interruption, thus making an important contribution to supplying the population.

During this challenging period, the system relevance was thus demonstrated without any restrictions for the suppliers. The weeks of March were characterized by extreme daily fluctuations and peaks in volume, which DACHSER Food Logistics normally only experiences before Christmas: kilometre-long traffic jams at border crossings, long waiting times at retail warehouses and drastic restrictions for drivers on suppliers' premises or when unloading at the recipient addresses. The extreme slump in the catering and wholesale sales channels has also led to a considerable under-utilisation of the small vehicle fleet.

Positive customer feedback motivates

The Business Line has received letters of thanks or verbal praise from many customers for its reliability during these challenging times. "We are very pleased and extremely proud of this, because such gestures testify to a high level of appreciation and customer satisfaction," says Alfred Miller, Managing Director DACHSER Food Logistics. "They also encourage us not to slacken our commitment. We will continue to offer our customers the best possible service in future and help them to revitalize their distribution channels".

End of the Brexit transition phase: What next?

The deadline for an extension of the Brexit negotiations and thus a longer transitional phase has expired. This has increased the pressure to reach an agreement on future relations between Britain and the EU by the end of the year.
