Striving for security of supply
In the recent past, supply chains have proven increasingly fragile and at risk. The reasons are manifold. To counteract this, companies are taking far-reaching measures. What these look like and how DACHSER can manage complex supply chains against this backdrop are the thoughts of CEO Burkhard Eling.
Benefiting from digital standards
In October 2021, DACHSER has joined forces with other companies in the logistics industry to establish the non-profit Open Logistics Foundation. In this interview, DACHSER CEO Burkhard Eling and CDO Stefan Hohm talk about the background and objective behind this initiative, which aims to increase digitalization and standardization, as well as its limits.
Open source – innovation as a philosophy
Software with freely accessible source code is resulting in the creation of more and more new IT systems and business models. Companies need to confront the open-source trend in digitalization.
As soon as the sun comes out, people start firing up their grills. “The network makes us flexible”
Demand for air freight capacity remains high. In the first half of 2022, DACHSER operated 150 charter flights—that’s 50 more than in the same period in 2021. But challenges in air freight remain: lockdowns in China and staffing bottlenecks, exacerbated by strikes at major European and international airports, make supply chains susceptible to disruption. Timo Stroh, Head of Global Air Freight at DACHSER, talks about the current situation in air freight as well as potential prospects and solutions.
