Special award for particularly groundbreaking innovations in the Logistics & Material Flow category goes to the Retail Box reusable system.

DACHSER has been awarded the Gold Award of the German Packaging Prize 2025 by the German Packaging Institute (dvi). In July, a total of 37 different packaging solutions, machines, displays, logistics solutions, designs, and concepts for young talent – including the DACHSER Retail Box – were honored by the independent jury. The winners of the Gold Awards for the three best-ranked solutions were announced at the Fachpack trade fair.

Through close cooperation with our partners, we have succeeded in developing an optimal and sustainable solution for shop deliveries that uses less packaging material.

DACHSER developed the Retail Box as a robust, lockable roll container in two sizes—Euro and half-pallet dimensions—together with Wanzl, the global market leader for shopping and parcel trolleys based in Leipheim. A tracking platform from the software start-up Logistikbude and the use of low-cost mobile communications systems (NB-IoT/LTE-M/2G) from Deutsche Telekom ensure the efficient management and real-time tracking of all Retail Boxes in daily use.

The reusable transport system for hanging and flat goods was initially developed by the industry solution DACHSER Fashion Logistics for the transport of fashion items. However, the Retail Box has long since become more than just a reusable transport container for hanging clothing. It is also used in other applications in the consumer goods industry, e.g., for the transport of sensitive or valuable products. However, the Retail Box is not intended for transporting food.

Optimal and sustainable solution

"We are delighted to receive the additional Gold Award. It shows that we have created real added value for our customers with the Retail Box. Through close cooperation with our partners, we have succeeded in developing an optimal and sustainable solution for shop deliveries that uses less packaging material," said Uwe Riechel, Department Head DACHSER Fashion Logistics, who accepted the award.

"The award once again confirms our approach of developing innovative and sustainable logistics solutions that utilize the standards in our European groupage network and are tailored to the specific requirements of our customers," adds Stefan Hohm, Chief Development Officer (CDO) at DACHSER.
