DACHSER is investing in the training and development of its young talent throughout Germany

DACHSER is once again welcoming an impressive number of new junior staff and is also strengthening the support it offers apprentices at its German locations. At the start of the 2026 training cycle, 684 new apprentices, 33 students, and 3 trainees will begin their programs across Germany.

“The success of our business is built first and foremost on the people who take on responsibility day after day and deliver reliable service to our customers,” says Burkhard Eling, DACHSER CEO. “That won’t change, even in a world marked by increasing digitalization, automation, and the use of artificial intelligence. This makes it all the more important to train talented young people and keep them at the company over the long term.”

Across Germany, DACHSER currently has 1,828 apprentices, 136 students, and 9 trainees in its three-year programs. This means the logistics provider’s training rate in Germany has remained constant at about 10 percent for many years now. Worldwide at DACHSER, there are approximately 2,400 young people enrolled in apprenticeships, college, or a trainee program, bringing the company’s international training rate to about 6 percent.

At DACHSER’s German locations, apprenticeships for training in transportation and logistics services and as warehouse specialists were particularly in demand, with 249 and 187 new apprentices, respectively. The company also welcomed 122 young people who have decided to train as professional drivers. That training is provided by the subsidiary DACHSER Driver and Truck Fleet Services GmbH.

In the work-study programs, most of the students enroll in business administration with a focus on logistics. In addition to apprentices and students in other fields, three people began various trainee programs at DACHSER as Young Professionals.

The number of new entrants to the workforce is thus at a similar level to 2025, when 661 apprentices, 22 students, and 8 trainees began their professional careers at DACHSER in Germany. DACHSER’s training rate in Germany is unchanged at about 10 percent.

Support is playing an increasingly bigger role

Natachia Antonis, Corporate Director Human Resources at DACHSER, notes that providing young talent with close professional and personal guidance on issues related to training, their studies, and day-to-day work is more important today than ever before. “New technologies and an increasingly connected workplace are placing new demands on young people who are just starting their careers,” she says. “That’s why we’re strengthening our support for them across Germany through specialized HR staff who are dedicated exclusively to the needs and training of these beginners. This will allow us to better support young people on their journey at DACHSER and help them grow in the long term.”

In Germany, DACHSER hired 263 apprentices and 16 students from the class of 2025. Experience over the past few years has shown that many former apprentices, students, and trainees continue to advance their careers within the company. “DACHSER offers them a wide range of development opportunities—from professional specialization and international experience to taking on technical and leadership responsibilities early on,” Antonis says.
