The site for the new warehouse is next door to DACHSER’s Rottenburg branch in the Ergenzingen-Ost industrial park. Equipped with the latest technology, the facility will provide storage solutions to customers from a variety of industries, including pharmaceutical, food, electrical engineering, chemical, and consumer goods companies.

“By adding a new warehouse to our branch, we are addressing the high demand among local businesses for storage space and related services, as well as for closely interconnected distribution in Germany and the rest of Europe. That means we’ll be able to offer a broader range of services to our existing customers in the region while also appealing to prospective customers looking for a key strategic and forward-thinking partner,” said Marco Geiger, Branch Manager at DACHSER in Rottenburg am Neckar, at the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony.

“In addition to the warehouse itself, the site will feature new office space as well as extensive storage facilities that will support operations and reduce traffic on the public roads in the area. We’ll be installing a photovoltaic system on the roof of the new building and using the electricity it generates to power the new warehouse, among other things,” Geiger adds.

18,000 new pallet spaces

The branch currently has 34,400 m2 of warehouse space, which will increase to approximately 46,000 m2 once the expansion is complete. The new building will also add more than 18,000 new pallet spaces to the site’s existing 28,000.

A section of the new facility can be refrigerated, which will appeal to food and pharmaceutical companies. Value-added services—such as special packaging—and a customs clearance license enhance the flexibility of the logistics services available at Rottenburg. The connection to DACHSER’s European overland transport network, especially the proximity to the A81 highway, means that the site is ideally placed to provide swift and seamless European distribution of the goods it stores.

“By dovetailing warehousing, value-added services, and transport, we offer our customers logistics solutions from a single source,” says Thomas Klare, Head of Corporate Contract Logistics at DACHSER. “DACHSER’s expansion of its contract logistics capacity in Rottenburg will make the branch fit for the future.”
