DACHSER’s training rate in Germany is unchanged at about 10 percent. Across Germany, the family-owned company currently has 1,707 apprentices, 126 students, and 15 trainees in its three-year programs. Worldwide, roughly 2,400 young people are either training or studying at the company, meaning DACHSER has an international training rate of around 6 percent.

Even once they’ve completed their training, we support employees’ professional and personal growth and continuous learning in the workplace.

The shortage of qualified personnel and drivers is and remains one of the biggest challenges for logistics companies. That’s why DACHSER continues to be strongly committed to training and hiring junior staff, especially in today’s weak economic climate. As a family-owned company with a long-term focus in a crisis-proof industry, the global logistics provider continuously invests in its workforce.

As usual, the largest share of this training year’s new apprentices in Germany – 283 people –are training for careers in freight forwarding and logistics services. They are joined by 148 warehouse specialists as well as 105 young people who have decided to train as professional drivers through DACHSER Service und Ausbildungs GmbH. Alongside apprentices in various other careers, an additional 22 young people are starting a dual work-study program in the areas of Business Administration – Logistics and Business Administration – Insurance, while eight people will start the Young Professionals trainee program.

Training with a view to full-time employment

At DACHSER, the chances of being taken on after successfully completing an apprenticeship are very promising. “In addition to recruitment, we’re also focused in particular on how we can strengthen employee retention and further development for our workforce,” says Natachia Antonis, who became Corporate Director Human Resources on April 1, 2025, and is responsible for global HR work in this role. “Even once they’ve completed their training, we support employees’ professional and personal growth and continuous learning in the workplace. This is something that’s firmly anchored in our HR strategy.”

Our employees are and will remain crucial to our future success.

“We’re committed to training young people ourselves and offering them attractive career paths thereafter—and our commitment is becoming even more important in light of the profound effects that demographic change is having on the labor market,” adds DACHSER CEO Burkhard Eling in response to a study by the German Economic Institute, according to which almost 20 million workers will reach retirement age by 2036. “Our employees are and will remain crucial to our future success,” Eling says.
